About
Restoration - where and when we can, we work to restore native shellfish populations. In partnership with local organizations, we started and maintain oyster upwellers across massachusetts. These upwells grow our native oysters for local restoration efforts. We currently support four upwellers across massachusetts. Shell recycling - we work with local restaurants and events to gather and recycle oyster shells. In time, we aspire to process the shell and use it at our restoration sites. Education - we speak to school groups, scout troops and other environmental organizations. We've also developed an effective, fast-based curriculum for educators in massachusetts. The massachusetts oyster project is a non-profit organization working to strengthen our coastal envirinment by restoring native shellfish populations to our beaches and coastal estuaries. Through oyster cultivation, shell recycling, education and advocacy we can improve water quality, increase the diversity of sea life and mitigate the effects of climate change.
